Assemblymember Mary Hayashi as an Outstanding Legislator

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Mary Hayashi received the Legislator of the Year Award  from the Retired Public Employees Association of California during their 2008 General Assembly Meeting.

Assemblymember Hayashi was recognized for her work on legislation that would have provided a self-funded vision care program for retired firefighters, police officers, and teachers. This important piece of legislation highlights the need for affordable and accessible vision care for contract agency, school and university retirees and their dependants.

Assemblymember Hayashi currently serves the 18^th Assembly District, which includes San Leandro , Hayward , Dublin , most of Castro Valley and Pleasanton , and a portion of Oakland , as well as the unincorporated areas of Ashland , Cherryland, Sunol and San Lorenzo .
